Glimmer of hope series.

As you may have noticed I am gradually publishing  a series of short stories called collectively  "A Glimmer of  Hope." My plan is to eventually collect them together into an anthology.

The idea came when looking through news headlines online, and wondered how I would feel if I found myself caught up in one of the dreadful scenarios that happen. Initially, the stories will be about things that are almost normal in Britain or the USA. Death, divorce car accidents, house fires, homelessness, later I might tackle war, and natural disaster.

My characters will all find a little bit of hope in the kindness of strangers. I don't intend them to be fairy tales though with magical 'it's all alright in the end' finishes but rather an example of how an act (or acts) of kindness can give someone just enough encouragement to change the course of a life. Some will be available on Amazon as kindle downloads for 99p, some will appear here on this blog for free. The first two are already available on Amazon.

Catherine answers her mobile phone while driving. The resulting accident, in which she hits a horse and rider, kills her baby daughter, the horse and seriously injures the rider. She is suicidal as a result of the terrible guilt she feels. She is prosecuted and sent to prison where she is put on suicide watch. By the time she is released, she has lost all hope. However, the kindness she found in an unlikely place makes her think that she might have a future.

A family move into the wilderness in search of an idyllic lifestyle for their children. A random wildfire destroyed almost everything they own. This is the story of what happened next and what gives them the courage to start again.

I am working on the sequel to out of the ashes and intend to publish it here on this blog so look out for it.
